MGSB pays rich tributes to Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian Armed Forces

Jammu, Oct 26:

The Maharaja Gulab Singh Brigade (MGSB) on Wednesday celebrated the 76th Accession Day of Jammu and Kashmir with the Union of India with gaiety and enthusiasm at Maharaja Hari Singh Park, here today.

The function was organised by the members of the brigade under the leadership of Anil Singh Rakwal, Working President MGSB who alongwith Tarsem Singh and Atul Sharma (vice presidents), Rajeshwar Singh Bikka (Exe. Committee Member), Social Activist Abhinav Anand, S Ranjeet Singh, Sumit Singh, Vishav Singh and Udhayveer Singh paid floral tributes to the erstwhile ruler of J&K Maharaja Hari Singh.

They recalled yeomen services of Maharaja to the society during his tenure moreso statesmanship shown by the legal heir of Jammu Kashmir Ladakh, Ashkurdu Baluchistan and beyond by signing instrument of final accession with the Union of India to integrate fully the vast northern state bordering China, Iran and Afghanistan.

Speaking on the occasion, Anil Singh Rakwal said that it was the most tragic that the 2/3rd of the territory of the princely state that acceded with India on 27th of October 1947 was allowed to be illegally occupied by Pakistan. Pertinently, on October 27, 1947, the 1st battalion of the Sikh Regiment commanded by Lt Col Dewan Ranjit Raj made a historic airlift to Srinagar for the defence of Kashmir with the first army aircraft landing at the Srinagar airport at 9.30 am. The Indian soldiers foiled the attempt of Pakistani infiltrators to capture the Srinagar airport.

Rakwal regretted that the successive governments at the centre utterly failed to retrieve the vast territories from the illegal occupation of Pakistan.  For last 75 years Pakistan has become a breeding ground for terrorists and Jihadis, who are being trained to cause death and destruction in Jammu and Kashmir, he lamented.

Members of the brigade paid rich tributes to the Indian Armed Forces including BSF, CRPF, J&K Police and Air Force for laying down their precious lives in the line of duty to ensure the Indian Tricolour fly high.
